At Chinese New Year, organizations and groups in Shanghai hold their annual New Year’s parties and celebrations.
They’re a chance for members and supporters to share memories; build stronger communities for the coming year; plus be a pat on the back for everyone’s hard work.
DDA’s Rose Oliver and Wang Ming Bo attended some of the different get togethers going on throughout the city:
One such event included a great evening at the Laozi Academy’s annual New Year Celebration. Wonderful to see the spread of traditional Chinese philosophy and Laozi’s teachings being kept relevant for today!
Shanghai University held a New Year’s party for their international teaching staff, which Rose arranged as a thanks to all the international teachers and Chinese faculty co-teaching staff for all their hard work & support during the year.
And the Shanghai Municipal Government hosted another New Year gala event for all Foreign Experts & “Talents” working in Shanghai as a thank you to the international experts for their contributions to the city and its people over the year. The gala, held at the Shanghai Opera House, featured performances from Shanghai’s elite musicians, dancers and arts performers.
With more great events and activities coming throughout the New Year, all of us at DDA wish everyone 福到了 (Every good fortune) for the New Year of the Dog!
