DDA Taiji Introductory Workshop for International Students at Fudan University

?
DDA were invited by The Education Abroad Network to host an introductory taiji workshop for international students studying at Fudan University’s overseas cultural immersion programme, as part of the Network’s “Teen Abroad” programme.(www.teanabroad.org)

?The group of 16 students from the USA, had only just arrived in Shanghai from the States, and were getting ready for a term-long sabbatical of classes on a variety of subjects at Fudan, (conducted in English), as well as cultural exchange activities to introduce the students to Chinese culture and history, including Peking Opera, mandarin and of course Chinese cuisine.
DDA were invited to introduce the students to Taiji and Chinese martial arts, taking the students through tendon stretching and joint opening exercises, then the Grasp the Bird’s Tail sequence from Yang Style Taiji Quan.?
The event was great fun, the young students were really enthusiastic and willing to try everything, despite finding some of the moves physically challenging, and gained an insight into the hard work that underpins Taiji training.
Thanks to the Ms. Fang, the resident director of the programme for inviting us, we look forward to cooperating with the programme again in the near future.?
