Double Dragon Alliance donated a large framed calligraphy scroll, written by Master George Xu, to an auction by the American Women’s Club of Shanghai (AWCS) to help raise money for orphaned children in Shanghai.
The auction, which the AWCS hold every year, donates all monies made to a variety of different charities in Shanghai and around China.
Ms. Myszka Reeck, chairwoman and organizer of the American Women’s Club of Shanghai’s auction, invited DDA to donate an art piece or gift.
The calligraphy scroll was written as a present for Rose Oliver and Rey Nelson by Master Xu in 1997. The scroll, which features a list of traditional Taiji philosophical concepts as well as some of Master Xu’s own insights, was brought by Rose and Rey to Shanghai when they moved here in 2000.
A translation of the text was made by Rose Oliver to accompany the gift for the auction.
The scroll fetched 2000Rmb, with the money going to Jo Charles and Shanghai Sunrise.
