Taiji will be the theme for the ICS TV show “Culture Matters” on 5th June.
Professor Qu Shi Jing of the Overseas Returned Scholars Association and author of several books on Taiji, particularly Yang Style, together with Rose Oliver of DDA, were interviewed about their views on Taiji, how they came to be involved in its practice and what they consider is the way forward for the continuing exploration and progression of Taiji in the future.
In the programme, recorded in both English and Chinese, Professor Qu discussed many aspects of the practice of Taiji, his own experiences, as well as relating many stories of ancient masters and proponents of Taiji in the past.
?
Professor Qu was later joined by Rose Oliver and Victoria, a Romanian lady who’d recently taken up the practice of Taiji, to discuss the principles involved and how easily Taiji can be understood by western audiences, plus how it can best be promoted to keep its cultural essence and pass on the very real benefits to a wider audience.
?
Later in the programme, there was also an interview with teachers from Master Huang Zong Da’s Shanghai Taiji Academy and a demonstration by one of their instructors.
The programme will be aired on 5th June at 7pm on ICS International Channel of Shanghai.
