?DDA were again invited by the Alliance for Global Education, a non-profit partnership of Arcadia University and Butler University’s study abroad colleges,?
?to host a TCM introductory activity covering aspects of Chinese medicine and treatment therapy, for a new party of American students taking part in the Alliance’s joint social and language programme with Fudan University.
???
This year, accompanied by their teacher, Ms. Felix Giron and assistant, the fourteen American students visited Dr. Li Yong’s Conjoint Health Advisory Service on Cao Yang Rd, where Dr. Li, with Rose Oliver acting as translator, introduced the students to TCM’s approach to illness diagnosis, treatment methods, particularly related to acupuncture and tuina massage therapies for a variety of common ailments and conditions.
????
Dr Li also introduced them to a healthy eating plan, devised to use fruits for breakfast and food combining for healthy lunches and dinners.
Some of the students also got to experience some acupuncture treatment and massage therapy for neck and shoulder pain.
?
After the introduction, the students also got to try out some basic tuina massage techniques, practicing percussion along the gallbladder meridian, to stimulate and aid digestion.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive workshop, especially trying out the techniques on their classmates!
Thanks again to Felix for inviting DDA to organize another workshop for their Global Education Programme, thank you to Dr. Li for another fascinating lecture and to Rose’s students from Shanghai University, Hailey, Lucy & Sophie and to Professor Luo Ji Feng for their assistance.
