DDA takes part in “Around the World in 70 Days” with Markus Koch

We were recently invited by the producers of the German TV show “Around the World in 70 Days” with Markus Koch, to be a part of their “Shanghai section” of the programme.

The TV crew, with Kim Taylor of Kaimu Productions came to Shanghai’s Cao Yang Park to film members of the Double Dragon Alliance practicing Taiji, along with other early morning risers and practitioners who regularly frequent this small but lively park.

The programme’s host has been on a sojourn around the world visiting various countries and finding out about the many varied cultures and customs of our diverse societies.
The trip to China started in Beijing, where they spent a couple of days, followed by the visit to Shanghai, where they visited Cao Yang Park and the Bund, before setting off to Vietnam on the next step of their journey.

Markus, who hadn’t practiced Taiji before, got to experience the fun and enjoyment of playing Taiji in the park with the local practitioners and taste a flavour of one of China’s most famous traditional pastimes.

We played the form, up to “Grasp the Bird’s Tail”, went through some of the applications together, before playing a bit of Push Hands.

Although the section of the programme was quite short, we all had a great time and it was a fantastic honour to meet friends from around the world and be able to represent Shanghai on their programme.
