The black tie event was supported by over 500 international and local guests, all eager to enjoy the boxing spectacle in aid of “Leo’s Foundation”, a charity dedicated to providing health care for premature babies with respiratory problems and which supports a ward at Fudan Children’s Hospital.
The guests were also treated to a delicious 5-course nouveau cuisine dinner, free-flowing wine all evening, 7 great boxing matches and a guest appearance by boxing legend WBC, IBO and Diamond Light Heavyweight Champion Bernard Hopkins.

Hopkins is the oldest competitor ever to win a world boxing championship at age 47, surpassing the record held by the great George Foreman. He also personally donated $25,000 to the charity event.

The two female and 5 male 3-round boxing matches were presided over by a panel of judges and referees, that also included renowned martial artist and boxing instructor, Master Xiong Wei and his son Xiong Xin, who teach at the Long Wu Martial Arts Sports Club at No.1 Mao Ming Road on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Master Xiong Wei also once boxed with legendary fighter Muhammad Ali, when he visited China back in the 80’s.

The boxing matches were enjoyed by an enthusiastic crowd of onlookers cheering on their “corner’s” fighters and the whole evening was not only a magnificent event in aid of a fantastic cause, but also a wonderful social evening, with a great time being had by all.
