The British Cultural Centre (BCC) opened its new and eagerly awaited ‘Fairy Grotto’ art exhibition.

The aim of the exhibition was to create a magical grotto, featuring a fairyland complete with grassy knolls, model fairy homes, trees, paintings and cartoon images related to famous fairytales, stories and legends, including the works of Hans Christian Andersen and Roald Dahl; as well as original images created by the student participants.

The BCC, which is part of the International Culture Park at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), collaborated with USST’s Art and Design College, whose students went above and beyond creating a wonderland, fairytale ambiance, with our BCC volunteers also being part of the creative force. Prizes were awarded to the three best submissions, although there were many deserving candidates.

The exhibition was the brainchild of BCC director, Rose Oliver, who was thrilled with the end result and the creativity of the students involved; and welcomes everyone to visit our BCC Fairy Grotto!
