During the May Day holidays, Tang Yi Bo, one of DDA’s newly inducted disciples and a native of Yixing, invited DDA’s Master Wang Ming Bo, with several DDA disciples including Fan Xing Dong, Cai Yu, Zheng Yu Feng, Zou Zhong Cheng among others, plus their family members, for a trip to his hometown in Jiangsu Province.
The group arrived in Yixing, checking into Mugen Courtyard, a farmhouse lodge beside Cloud Lake, surrounded by woodlands and bamboo bushes, making it a great place for practising Taiji. The group enjoyed Yixing’s specialty cuisine, like Yan Du Xian and black rice, which has been recommended in “A Bite of China”, and the fresh clean air and beautiful scenery, which was great for practising Taiji.
They visited Taihua Huajing Tea Plantation, enjoying a walk up the ‘tea hill’. It was bamboo season, when spring bamboo shoots emerge, which excited the children when they saw bamboo shoots growing so tall! Unfortunately, there wasn’t any tea picking, because of recent rains; but fortunately, it was the best time to pick wild raspberries, which gave the kids a chance to ‘pick’ or rather taste some berries.
A vegetarian culture festival is also held at this time every year in Dajue Temple, however, due to the May Day crowds, it was almost impossible to enter the grounds, hence the group enjoyed a tour around Cloud Lake, followed by a delicious lunch in a farmhouse restaurant at the foot of Dragon Mountain.
