DDA’s Master Wang Ming Bo and Rose Oliver MBE welcomed their first Taiji disciples at a disciple induction ceremony on Saturday 25th February.

Attended by Mr. Yu Huan Pei, officiating as Master of Ceremonies and with Master Liu Ji Fa and Master Liu Hong Cai attesting as witnesses and senior masters, the 8 disciples formally recognized Master Wang and Rose Oliver as their Taiji teachers and presented them with their formal pledges and written testimony asking to be taken as disciples by their teachers.

The formal ceremony followed traditional protocols, with both Master Liu Ji Fa and Master Liu Hong Cai offering advice and ensuring that all was carried out according to traditional Chinese Wushu etiquette.

The ceremony was held at Rose’s home and set the scene for the family atmosphere and teaching style that both Master Wang Ming Bo and Rose Oliver adhere to and which the disciples themselves enjoy.

After the formal exchange of gifts, Master Wang and Rose presented the disciples each with a handwritten scroll of Wang Zong Yue’s Taiji principles, drafted by Master Wang’s father and with their own Taiji suit and practice shoes; the disciples also received advice and instruction from the masters, with some hands-on instruction from Master Liu Hong Cai and encouragement for their practice ahead.

Following the ceremony, the whole party retired to the Xing Gang Restaurant for a banquet dinner,?where they were also joined by Mr. Xu Zhi Wen, who had written a special presentation plaque of Wang Zong Yue’s Taiji principles for the occasion.
