DDA’s Rose Oliver and recently travelled to Beijing with two of her Shanghai University colleagues and DDA’s Wang Ming Bo, to receive an award from the China State Administration’s Foreign Expert Bureau, as part of the annual national award: “My Favourite Foreign Teacher” & Educational Institutions Awards.
Rose was honoured alongside 30 other foreign teachers who were nominated from several thousand schools & universities in China.
The award ceremony was also attended by a very special “favourite foreign teacher”, Isabel Crooks, a centenarian born in Chengdu and who has lived and served China and her students throughout her life.
After the awards ceremony at Beijing Normal University, where the ceremony was held, there was an interactive education forum & speeches from eminent lecturers & Nobel Prize winner Tomas Sudelof.
Rose wishes to thank all her students and the faculty and staff at Shanghai University for their nomination and for their kind support over the years, she was very touched by the award after 14 years continuous service at Shanghai University.
After the event, Rose and her guest at the occasion, DDA’s Wang Ming Bo, also had a chance to sightsee around Beijing and enjoy the Imperial Palace and Tian An Men Square among other sights.
