The Yong He Tang Arts and Culture Centre in Pu An Road, was the venue for the French red wine tasting evening organized on Wednesday 7th February.
The event which was attended by over 40 guests was a chance to taste some delicious French wines, enjoy each others’ company and look around some of the exquisite pieces of traditional Chinese art ware at the Yong He Tang gallery.
The mixed group of western and Chinese visitors spent a delightful evening tasting seven different wines from the Grand Cru wine group, ranging from Merlots to Syrahs.
The atmosphere was both cultured and relaxed and the beautiful surroundings amongst the wonderful paintings, porcelains and carvings added to the very pleasant ambiance.
The event gave everyone the opportunity to mix and mingle, meet new friends and learn more about Chinese art and culture in an informal setting. Many of the artists and painters themselves were there to explain their particular art and the meanings behind them, thus bringing the artwork alive and adding new depths to the pieces for the western guests.
Plus the added enjoyment of sampling some choice wines created a very pleasurable time for everyone.
It’s not often that we all get a chance to just socialize and relax like this and meet so many people from such diverse backgrounds; from artists to business entrepreneurs, and from teachers to some of Shanghai’s foremost and most famous martial artists.
It really was a very special evening and a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.
After the great success of this event, another wine tasting is planned in the early summer, where we hope we can all meet again and welcome some new friends too.
