Rose Oliver was recently invited by the British Consulate’s Cultural and Education Section to provide a lecture on British Culture for the Jiefang Newspaper, as part of a cooperation between the British Council and Jiefang News.
The audience of around 300 mainly middle and high school students and their parents, came to hear a variety of lectures on British Culture and British Life, including topics like life in Britain, the weather, football, British food, British manners and Do’s and Don’ts in Britain.
The event was great fun and the young students were active and enthusiastic, plus displayed great English language skills.

Rose was honoured to have been invited to the event and hopes that everyone enjoyed the day’s lectures and will also have the opportunity to visit the UK themselves to enjoy British culture and see some of the beautiful scenery and sights around Britain.
Thank you to all the participants who tried the activities and for all their wonderfully creative pub signs and coats of arms, they were all fantastic!
