I’m Mona. This is a short passage about what the essay in Chinese says. I can’t translate my Chinese essay exactly, for it uses a language of ancient Chinese. So I have just written something general to help friends from abroad to understand its content.
On April Fools’ Day, we four went to the party. Rose, the organizer of the party is crazy about Chinese culture. She enjoys Tai Chi, tea culture, geomancy, Yi jing, etc, and she has already gained some attainments in them. One of our group had been longing for the party for a long time, so she went there with her leopard-patterned pajamas.
The party was held in a cafe near People’s Square. The cafe was luxurious to us four. And before entering it, each of us paid the entrance fee of 45 Yuan.
Then we got a ticket to exchange for one kind of drink. There were 3 drinks at the bar and I chose Sprite.
After we sat down, we found the woman sitting in front of us was from France. And she also wore her pajamas.
At first, we were a bit at a loss and only ate some desserts. The dishes there were quite expensive to us.
Later, there were some performances of Tai Chi and dancing. Jane from our group, the one with pajamas, also performed karate. It was strange to see karate, pajamas and red wine appearing at the same time. And at last, she won a Chinese traditional ornament as her prize; a little frog standing upon a cabbage, (Bai Cai or white cabbage in Chinese stands for wealth and prosperity) which can spit out water, once hot water is pored over it.
At about 9 p.m. Rose introduced some Russian friends to us. One of them impressed us most, for he masters several languages. We all had to admit that both our English and Chinese are poor! Also there was a handsome boy, a little like the character called Draco Malfoy in the film of Harry Potter. But to our surprise, he was only 15.
At last, we all went our separate ways and went back to the dormitory.
