Welcome to our 7th:“Chinese Culture and Martial Arts Training Camp” 15th November – 23rd November 2014

Double Dragon Alliance welcomes you to our seventh “Shanghai Camp”; sightsee around Shanghai, the city’s surrounding villages and ancient water towns, study with high-level martial arts masters and experts in Chinese arts and culture, make new friends, enjoy delicious Chinese fare and experience traditional Chinese culture and hospitality firsthand.

 

Our event will give participants a chance to sample traditional Chinese culture, including, Calligraphy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tuina massage, as well as train with some of Shanghai’s finest martial artists and health practitioners.

Classes will include Yang, Chen & Wu Style Taiji Quan, Qigong, Tong Bei Quan, Push Hands, TCM Tuina, Meditation, Calligraphy & Painting, among others.

The emphasis will again be on internal training, deepening practitioners’ knowledge, working on how to apply the techniques and on enhancing health and longevity.

Early booking is recommended, as there is a maximum of 25 participants at this year’s camp; book before 17th March 2014 for a 10% discount off your camp fee.

 

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1. 15 November Settle into the new day with a fun sightseeing trip to our local Chinese student’s home for a home-cooked meal, then stroll around the Botanical Gardens and old French Concession, the Bund waterfront overlooking the river and Pudong, plus visit the colourful Xin Tian Di.

Day 2. 16 November Early morning training with Master Wang Ming Bo in Yang Style Taiji, basic foundation exercises and Push Hands practice.
After lunch and in the afternoon, internal training and form work. In the evening, we will have an interactive TCM Tuina class, where participants will have an opportunity to experience and learn some Tuina massage and try out the massage techniques themselves.

Day 3. 17 November In the early morning we will have qigong, basic training exercises & form in the park. After breakfast, full day training begins. In the evening, there will be lessons in push hands, application techniques and/or Tuina.

Day 4. 18 November After breakfast, we will travel to Nanxun, famous for its waterways, old town and ancient gardens, for sightseeing and walks around this famous area steeped in Chinese folklore.? Return to Shanghai in the evening.

Day 5. 19 November Early morning training in the park, followed by full day training. In the evenings there will be lectures and classes by guest instructors in push hands, sparring and applications, qigong and tuina massage.

Day 6. 20 November After breakfast, we will travel to Suzhou, famous for its beautiful parks, pagodas, old town and ancient gardens. Return to Shanghai in the evening.

Day 7-8. 21-22 November Early morning training in the park, followed by full day training. In the evenings there will be lectures and classes by guest instructors in push hands, sparring and applications, qigong and tuina massage.

Day 9. 23 November In the morning there will be a demonstration by the camp masters and special guests from among Shanghai’s leading martial artists, plus an interactive push hands seminar and workshop. Following, there’ll be a banquet lunch, where everyone will have a chance to meet the masters informally and ask some final questions. Afterwards, there will be a closing ceremony and group photographs, where participants will be presented with their camp certificates.

Should participants wish to lengthen their stay, or continue to study with any of the masters, we can help arrange accommodation and tuition.

SEMINAR COSTS

The fees are: 17,500Rmb, ?1750, ?2200 or US$2650.
For participants returning from previous camps there is a discount fee of: 15,000Rmb, ?1,500, ?1850 or US$2400.? This includes all training, accommodation, meals, transportation and trips for the 9 days.

(We will arrange a special shuttle collection from Pudong International airport, for guests arriving on 14 & 15 November for an additional fee of 250Rmb)? Participants should purchase their own visas and airplane tickets to and from Shanghai.

A non-refundable deposit of ?300, ?450 or US$500 is payable by 31st July 2013.
Final payment for the camp is due by 15th October 2013. Cheques or money orders should be made payable to ROSALIND STEPHANIE OLIVER, and should be sent to:

Payment can also be made via wire transfer to our bank account, details available on request.

Participants bringing 5 or more students/friends will receive a discount of 25% off their own fee. Participants bringing 10 or more students/friends will receive their own place at camp free.

Cancellations before 1st October 2013 will receive a refund of all funds, minus their deposit. Cancellations after 1st October 2013 will receive a refund of 75% of their funds, minus their deposit.

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event is cancelled, participants will receive a full refund of all monies paid.

Cost for accompanying spouses and friends who are not training: 10,000Rmb, ?1000, ?1500 or US$1750.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please apply for a visa at your local Chinese embassy. You can use this programme to facilitate your visa application, and to give exact dates. For any further assistance or information about your visa application, please contact Rose Oliver.

You should overestimate your stay in China by an additional 2-4 weeks; so make sure you have at least six months left on your passport.

Weather in Shanghai at this time of year is not usually very cold, but there can be rain, so it’s best to bring some warm clothes and an extra pair of shoes.

Accommodation is based on two people sharing a standard twin room.? Participants should indicate on their registration form, whom they wish to share with, or we can allocate guests to share accommodation. There is a single room supplement of ?55 for those wanting a private room.
