Enjoying Cultural Exchange at the British Cultural Centre (BCC)

This month the BCC hosted another enthusiastic group of British students from a different partner school in the UK; Liverpool John Moores University.

The group of 8 students and 1 faculty member spent a fun-filled and culturally informative fortnight with us; experiencing Peking Opera again with regular DDA collaborator and friend, Ms. Cao Hui; Taiji, with DDA’s Master Wang Ming Bo taking the students through their Taiji paces; Chinese cuisine and cooking with our BCC housekeeper; other aspects of traditional Chinese culture and everyday life with Rose’s university class students; as well as completing their academic projects with their peers from the Engineering and Foreign Language Schools.

And with four speakers as part of the ‘Business Professionals Lecture Series’, including Betty Barr MBE, talking about her life and experiences in Shanghai and “Understanding Other Cultures”; Elva Sun discussing, “I Have a Dream – Finding Your Dream Job”; new speaker Clem Balanoff discussing “Transitioning – Making Life & Career Changes”, in which Clem guided students on understanding the best time to make changes in their lives and/or career paths, to recognize when a chance should be seized with both hands, and how to turn tribulation or uncertainty into a golden opportunity; and Asen Velinov detailing “International Careers & Business Opportunities Related to the Belt and Road Initiative”; alongside our regular social interaction events and BCC Theatre Club, May 2018 at the BCC was again packed with activities, fun events, and international friendship!
