About Us

Double Dragon Alliance Cultural Centre (DDA) was founded by Rose Oliver MBE in Shanghai, 2005, to act as an accessible cultural bridge; building platforms for meaningful cultural exchange and promoting health and wellness systems that positively impact our global communities.

DDA are dedicated to celebrating culture; providing a forum for health and wellness education; providing insights into China, its art, culture, and everyday social life; developing cross-cultural communication; and helping to forge global friendships. We regularly organize cultural exchange projects, social events and health retreats; and offer executive leadership training, health and wellness training and cultural immersion courses both in Shanghai and overseas with a variety of working partners and contributors.

Rose has lived in Shanghai since 2000, after coming from the UK with her late husband; (where they ran a Taiji centre: ‘The Eastern Tai-Chi and Internal Arts Research Association’ and ‘Masters from China Programmes’). She has studied with leading teachers and health practitioners in Shanghai, forged relationships within the business and media world, staged events that celebrate art and culture for local communities, fostered a positive environment of intercultural appreciation, and built a cultural exchange centre with global outreach.

“There is a special quality to the energy in Shanghai and the people have a spirit about them that is both unique and spellbinding. DDA hopes through its cultural exchange work everyone can experience a taste of China, the delights of Shanghai culture and people, their ancient health systems and the wonder of Shanghai’s community spirit.”

Rose, has also worked at several universities and learning institutions in Shanghai, and was presented to Chinese President Xi Jin Ping in May 2014, at the ‘Foreign Experts Symposium’, to discuss innovation and education in China; has been awarded both the prestigious ‘Magnolia Gold Award’ and ‘Magnolia Silver Award’ by the Shanghai Government for her work promoting Chinese culture globally, and for her contribution to the city of Shanghai over the last twenty years; been recognized as “An Emissary of Chinese Martial Arts”, by Shanghai Media Group (SMG); and was awarded the MBE by HM the Queen in the 2010 New Year’s Honours’ List for her work in developing Sino-UK relations and fostering cultural exchange.

Rose’s life mission is promoting culture and education, and developing health and wellness programmes for the community. She is an educator, cultural ambassador and proponent of health and wellness in lifestyle choices.

DDA’s mission is to be a vehicle for that work and help provide opportunities for all to share valuable experiences and knowledge, help communities across the globe develop better health and wellness practices, improve communication and cultural exchange, stage events that celebrate art and culture, and foster a positive environment of intercultural appreciation.
