In Shanghai I think there are several masters who can genuinely be said to be Internal Martial artists.
That is they can really demonstrate pure internal movement and energy and utilize the energy surrounding the body or the “Shen Qi”.
Master Ren Gang, (who was previously invited by Master George Xu to teach in Italy in August 2006, but declined to go once he was given the ultimatum of having to withdraw from DDA’s event in November 2006) has this ability to use the Shen Qi. Touching him, he is able to dissolve or dissipate someone’s force into the space around them and not take it into his own body.
This way, you don’t feel that he has a solid centre or tension that you can take advantage of, but he is also able to issue powerful energy into your internal body – which attacks your internal organs and is very painful and uncomfortable!
He can issue this whole body power and energy into you because he is so relaxed, and doesn’t focus on the external structure of the body, but on the shen qi or surrounding energy.
Does anyone know any other teachers that demonstrate this use of the Shen Qi?
