Carvings

Mr. Tu Jie is a master sculptor and carver, working mainly in the medium of Sandalwood and Mahogany Woods.

Many of his works are exhibited at his art centre and gallery at No. 157 Jing Zhou Rd, near the junction of Da Lian Rd in Yang Pu District.

His marvellous arrays of both traditional and modern works, mix traditional Chinese subjects and contemporary western themes blending them seamlessly to make fascinating exhibitions of artistry.

Some of his pieces feature life-size, large scale “sculptures”, including a dragon boat, complete with miniature model figures representing a mix of crew members from wine carriers to serving girls; a model of Chairman Mao and a character from Chinese history – Ji Gong, in a variety of poses and settings; intricate nine-dragon carvings and murals all exquisitely detailed; plus nude, sylph-like maiden statuettes and animal characters.
