A Student helper’s bird’s eye view—Feng Shui Evening

I’m a student in Shanghai University. Rose taught me English two years ago. She often holds some interesting and meaningful events and I’m glad to take part in this kind of event.

Recently, I joined her feng shui and tea tasting evening. Over 20 guests joined us and half of them were foreign friends. All of us are curious about Chinese feng shui and also love Pu Er tea.

With the fluent translation of Ms Jessie Zhang, the feng shui lecture was wonderful. Every guest was fascinated by the mystical feng shui principles. The feng shui master, Mr Huang Sheng gave us some useful tips on how to lay out our apartment according to the feng shui principles, plus he explained to us how to choose and place the furnishings. The guests were very interested in it and after that they eagerly put some questions to Mr Huang Sheng.

After the feng shui lecture, we began tasting Pu Er tea in another room. Ms Qiao introduced the Pu Er tea to the guests. She is the owner of the “Pu Er Story Tea Rooms” and she knows a lot about Pu Er tea. I was very glad to help Rose do the translating work on Pu Er tea tasting. Though I was little nervous, I tried to explain clearly to the guests. My thanks to Rose for giving me this chance. Ms Qiao told us some history of Pu Er tea and how to choose good Pu Er tea. She also taught us how to brew it. All the guests enjoyed the high quality Pu Er tea and had a pleasant evening.

Everybody attending had a good time and it was also a good chance for different people to communicate with each other through talking about feng shui and Pu Er tea. I hope that Rose will hold more events like that; I’m sure more and more people will like to participate in similar activities in the future.
