It was my great honor to have attended the workshop on “Traditional Chinese Medicine for Health Maintenance” with the guests from Britain on the April 7th. I was fortunate to be invited by my English teacher, Rose Oliver to come to that event and I worked as an assistant and also as an interpreter. I learned a lot, both in keeping my body fit and on how to improve my oral English.
To be frank, I was really surprised by the fact that so many foreigners are interested in Chinese Medicine, while we Chinese people, especially young people, seem to have little interest in it.
However, the free event let me realize that, like a miracle, our traditional medicine can cure or at least alleviate many chronic or serious diseases about which Western medicine still has no idea. So there’s no reason for us to ignore this cultural and practical treasure handed down by our wise ancestors and what we, as the young generation of Chinese people are obligated to do, is to find out about Chinese medicine and take advantage of it in keeping fit in our daily lives.
I have strong faith that as science and technology develop, we Chinese people can provide more scientific and theoretically precise evidence to prove our traditional medicine as a beneficial method and principle for all human kind. Only in this way can we have the traditional legacy recognized by the world and at the same time, make it shine brilliantly in the starry sky of human’s wisdom.
