Chinese Cultural Activity for Visiting UK Teachers

Students’ view of the event:

Last night I went to Conjoint Health Advisory Centre to take part in an activity about Traditional Chinese Medicine. There I met some foreign teachers from England. They were all very interested in the profound Chinese Medicine. The activity began at 19:00. During the first section, everybody was so absorbed in the lecture given by Doctor Li that nobody felt the passage of time. The vivid translation by Rose made the foreign friends understand what Doctor Li said more clearly and easily. During the interactive session, Doctor Li guided them to massage their gallbladder meridians, along the outside of the upper leg. Then I was busy translating for the foreign teachers and Doctor Li’s assistants. With the patient guidance, almost everyone mastered the skill. The activity ended about 21:30. It was an unforgettable experience for each of us.
As for me, the activity helped improve my English and gave me the courage to talk to foreigners. I am willing to join in such activities again.

It’s my pleasure to join in the activity. It was a very exciting night. Although the activity only lasted a few hours, it offered me an opportunity to start to know about Chinese medicine and tuina. I used to feel that Chinese medicine is really mysterious and hard to understand. But now, I get a new idea about it. I think it will be useful if you command it.?
First, Doctor Li introduced some knowledge about Chinese medicine for us, for example, the different ideas of Chinese and western medicine, some tips to keep healthy, etc. All of us were interested in what he said and thanks to Rose for her excellent translation.
Then, we started to practice tuina. It was difficult to learn at first because we don’t know how to control our strength and where we should press. But after practicing again and again, a lot of the guests began to command the skill and they enjoyed it.
In this activity, my job is to help translate for the guests. To tell the truth, I felt very nervous in the beginning. I even couldn’t say a word. However, I rebuilt my confidence during the evening because I thought no one would laugh at me and they were all friendly and I could do my best.
I am a fortunate girl to get the opportunity to improve my English and learn a lot of things about tuina and Chinese medicine. I think that all of us learned some skills and tips about staying healthy and enjoyed the event that night.
