SMG TV Productions supports promotion of Chinese martial arts and advocating for the teaching of Taiji and other forms of Wushu in schools, and for Taiji’s inclusion in the Olympics, which is also close to DDA’s heart. SMG also named Rose as “Emissary of Chinese Martial Arts” in 2017. Producer and director of programmes Apple Wu is the brains behind SMG’s push for revitalization of Chinese martial arts in the modern era, and a keen supporter of DDA’s work.

Master Liu Zu Ping retired from her role as school PE instructor in 2011. She has been a national level sports and community coach and holds various sports instructor certificates, enabling her to teach both at a professional and community level. Her role now comprises working in the Cao Yang, Putuo District community, teaching and competing in Qigong contests, playing the Chinese traditional drums and competing in volleyball with the Xianxia Community Volleyball Team. She is a great addition to the DDA team and a wonderful instructor, patient, humourous and highly knowledgeable.

Professor Qu is an 87-year old Shanghai native, Professor of English Literature and Director of the English Literature Studies Centre and Academy of Social Sciences in Shanghai. A student of the late Master Huang Jing Hua, a pupil of Grandmaster Yang Cheng Fu; he began his study of Yang Style when he was 14-years old. More of a scholar than a fighter, Professor Qu first became interested in the art due to ill health. He has dedicated his life to sharing the art and understanding more of its internal secrets. His humility and willingness to learn after 70 years of study make him one of our most endearing contributors!

Master Chen and his troop specialize in traditional hand and weapons forms and are regular performers in Shanghai martial arts gatherings, as well as at our DDA Celebration of Culture Galas!

Ms. Zhong teaches children’s Wushu classes and has also been honoured with awards from Shanghai Media Group (SMG); she and her troop are also frequent performers at our ‘DDA Celebration of Culture Galas’!

SHMA Traditional European Weapons Club

Founded on Nov. 15, 2015, SHMA is an international club incorporating European historical martial arts and traditional Chinese weapons fighting.

A long time practitioner and teacher of the Mulan Boxing System, Master Han is an accomplished Sword and Fan player, regularly performing at our ‘DDA Celebration of Culture Galas’, as well as working with us introducing Mulan forms to members of the expat community.
