Double Dragon Alliance and Doctor Li Yong of Shanghai’s Conjoint Health Advisory Service’s joint internship programme recently celebrated its first graduate, Ms. Julie Netti of Holland.
??
Julie has her own massage therapy clinics in both her native USA as well as in her adopted home in Holland.
Her background is in Holistic Health, as well as in High School Education, where she also teaches English Language learning using her Holistic Medicine practice as a tool to encourage English learning amongst her Dutch pupils.
??
?
Julie first came to China in 1999, with a group of Western Doctors/Students, to study Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of TCM in Beijing.
?
??
Wishing to continue her study of TCM and Tuina and be able to further incorporate its philosophy into her practice, but not wanting to simply repeat the same course that the Beijing University was offering again, she contacted Rose Oliver, Director of DDA.
?
??
The concept behind DDA and Conjoint Health Advisory Service’s Internship Programme is to give Western and Chinese students of TCM, an opportunity to train in Doctor Li’s pioneering method of internal medicine; allowing both existing health practitioners as well as new students interested in TCM, the chance to study intensively with one of Shanghai’s top TCM doctors and gain new qualifications for their own personal development.
?
Doctor Li Yong graduated from Shanghai’s Traditional Chinese Medicine University in 1998, following which, he studied privately in Dr Chen’s Shanghai clinic, training in Tuina and TCM for a further 4 years.
??
?
He later studied Acupuncture for a further 2 years at Dr Cai’s Shanghai clinic.
?
In 2004, Doctor Li opened his own clinic, “Conjoint Health Advisory Service” in Shanghai and is currently planning to open a second TCM clinic in Shanghai’s Pudong New area, the new business area situated across the Huang Pu River, which is to host the Expo in 2010.
??
Doctor Li has also cooperated with Double Dragon Alliance on several occasions, conducting lectures for the British Embassy’s Cultural and Education Centre in Shanghai, introducing TCM and Tuina massage techniques to visiting UK guests invited by the British Council’s School Links Programme; impressing everyone with his professionalism, knowledge, patience, humour and skill.
??
Doctor Li centers his treatment methodology on detoxifying the body and reenergizing the functions of the liver, gallbladder and digestive system, helping to promote circulation and recovery; as well as helping the body reduce excess fat and thus lose weight.
??
Doctor Li’s clinic has successfully treated patients with a wide variety of illnesses, ranging from serious cancers to digestive problems, and from skin disorders to heart disease.
??
?
His system is also an aid to fostering good daily life habits, like sleeping early and getting up early and following a good healthy lifestyle.
Julie spent two weeks training daily alongside Doctor Li, joining him in his consultation, diagnosis and treatment process, as well as training in his unique Tuina method.
??
?
University graduate level interpreters assisted Julie over the course of her two-week programme, facilitating her understanding and giving all parties a chance to exchange ideas, information and make new friends.
The training programme was complete and extremely detailed and Julie commented that it not only reinforced a lot of what she already incorporated into her own therapy, but opened her eyes to a completely new way of approaching health care and patient treatment, and was one of the best learning experiences she had ever had.
??
?
A sentiment which was reciprocated by Doctor Li and his colleagues at the clinic, who also thoroughly enjoyed their time together, giving them all the opportunity to exchange health care information and treatment ideas.
So successful was her first experience here that Julie intends to make a trip to Doctor Li’s Shanghai Clinic, a regular part of her continuing training development and is also co-planning a sabbatical to the USA next year for Doctor Li, in cooperation with Rose Oliver.
Julie’s trip also left time for some sightseeing in and around Shanghai and some of the neighbouring areas’ beauty spots, like Suzhou; and ended with a wonderful banquet in her honour, attended by Dr Li and his colleagues at the clinic, as well as some of the friends and interpreters who’d assisted Julie during her stay.
