DDA Cross-Cultural Exchange Events: Talk on TCM Tuina

DDA arranged another of its cross-cultural exchange events in Shanghai; this time hosting TCM doctor, Dr. Chen Jun Jia, to give an interactive talk on TCM Tuina, and his own special Tuina techniques for resolving energy and structural blockages and pain.
Dr. Chen, who flew in especially from Taiwan to join us, first explained his teachers’ philosophy for energy blockages caused by mechanical or soft tissue damage, and how these can be rectified using their systems’ particular Tuina massage techniques.
The latter part of the lecture was an interactive section, where several volunteers had their various ailments investigated and then treatment to help alleviate their discomfort.
The focus being on releasing the buildup of tension in those areas and the inherent, often negative response of surrounding soft tissue to mechanical injury.
Dr. Chen, who has patients in and around Shanghai, as well as Guangxi and Taiwan, specializes in reading the energy and structural imbalance of the soft tissue and correcting that through hands-on tuina techniques, which help release blockages and allow optimum energy flow that also promotes self-healing.
He also reiterated the wisdom of many of DDA’s previous lecturers and therapists, who also maintained that many of the body’s structural problems come from patients’ own bad postural and lifestyle habits.
An extremely interesting introduction; we look forward to seeing Dr. Chen again in the future!
