DDA inducted two new Taiji disciples on 12th January 2020, including one of our long-term international students, Gabrael St Clair and Chen Jin Yuan, another long-term martial arts practitioner.
Gabe also remains a senior student at both the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School and Black Bamboo Taiji School in North Carolina, where she has studied Hao Style Taiji, along with many forms of Qigong and other Taiji styles; we thank her teachers, Dr Jay Dunbar, his wife Sifu Kathleen Cusick, and Sifu Lao Ma for their generosity of spirit and encouragement.
Gabe has been studying regularly with us at DDA, at our Shanghai and international camps, as well as events put on in the USA by Magic Tortoise founder Dr. Jay Dunbar and his wife Sifu Kathleen Cusick, and separately by DDA in and around Durham, Chapel Hill, Winston Salem and Maryland.
The DDA disciple ceremony was hosted in Shanghai; our senior disciple Professor Luo Ji Feng acted as master of ceremonies, and the event was witnessed by Master Yu Huan Pei, Master Liu Hong Cai, Master Shou Guan Shun, author and calligrapher Mr. Wang Xiao Jun and calligrapher Ms. Wang Xiu Hua, who both also wrote commemorative scrolls for the new disciples, highlighting texts and poetry from classic Chinese texts, and which bore particular significance for our new disciples lives and practice.
DDA thanks our new disciples for their support over the years and wishes them well on the next step of their Taiji journey! And a special thank you to the masters who have supported us and been our guides and mentors over the years too. We welcome Gabe and Xiao Chen into our DDA Taiji family, and look forward to continuing our journeys onward together.
