DDA inducted two new Taiji disciples on 12th January 2020, including one of our long-term international students, Gabe StClair and Chen Jin Yuan, another long term martial arts practitioner.
Ceremonial Rituals
The ceremony was hosted by our senior disciple Professor Luo Ji Feng, and witnessed by Masters Yu Huan Pei, Liu Hong Cai, Shou Guan Shun, DDA Art Director Mr. Xu Zhi Wen, author Mr. Wang Xiao Jun and calligrapher Ms. Wang Xiu Hua.
Ms. Wang Xiu Hua also wrote a commemorative scroll for the new disciples, highlighting text from classic Taiji treatises and which bore particular significance for our new disciples.
Gabe is still also a senior student at both the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan and Black Bamboo Taiji Schools in North Carolina, where she has studied Hao Style Taiji, along with many styles of Qigong.
Gabe has been studying regularly with DDA at our Shanghai and international camps over the years, as well as at events in the USA, with both DDA and Magic Tortoise’s founder Dr. Jay Dunbar and his wife Shifu Kathleen Cusick (in Durham, Chapel Hill, Winston Salem and Maryland) and has recently begun teaching in her own right under both the DDA and Magic Tortoise banners.
