Double Dragon Alliance celebrated its 10-year anniversary on 21st November 2015, with a ‘Celebration of Culture’ performance exhibition and banquet lunch.
?The event was attended by over 300 guests, including many old friends and international guests, guest teachers and performers from the martial arts world, artists, calligraphers, Peking Opera performers, plus DDA students and disciples, who not only performed but helped with all the arrangements and organization too.?
It was a wonderful mix of Taiji, with performances by regular DDA collaborators, Masters Qu Shi Jing and students displaying pushing hands and fajing; Yan Cheng De and two lady disciples demonstrating Bagua and a two-person sparring set: Zhou Jie and Lei Xiang Er; Liu Hong Cai, demonstrating Chen Style Taiji; Shou Guan Shun and his student demonstrating pushing hands; Wang Sen Lin demonstrating Hebei Hsing-Yi; Xue Hong En demonstrating 10 Animal Xin Yi; Chen An Tian demonstrating Bagua; Liu Ji Fa and students demonstrating Wu Style Taiji and push hands; Ma Bao Guo demonstrating Huan Yuan Xing-Yi Taiji; Tian Bing Yuan, grandson of Tian Zhao Ling demonstrating Yang Style Taiji; Han Yu Ying demonstrating Mulan Taiji Straight Sword; Chang Feng Park’s Taiji Association with Zhang Quan Xing performing a Yang Style Taiji set, and Hou Peng and Zhu Lei Qing performing Hou Fist.?
DDA students from Cao Yang Park and DDA’s Taiji classes, including old-hand John Watkins performed several group demonstrations of Yang Style Taiji, as taught to Rose and Master Wang Ming Bo by Master Dong Bin; as well as an impromptu group performance of Taizu Quan by Rose, Master Wang and their disciples, in honour of Grandmaster Bao Guan Yuan, who was Rose’s Tong Bei teacher Master Wu Mao Gui’s teacher, and who had sadly just passed away.
Among the ‘cultural performances’, old DDA friend Ms. Cao Hui once again captivated the audience with another beautiful performance from a Peking Opera classic tale; DDA art director Mr. Xu Zhi Wen painting a beautiful bamboo scene, accompanied by Ms. Hong Min performing a Taiji Straight Sword routine; Mr. Yang Yi Xiao rendering another polished comic performance; DDA Taiji students and middle school students, brother and sister Nancy and Jerry performing an Erhu duet; as well as a special Yoga performance from Chandan of Drishti Yoga Shala; and Mr. Xu Jin Qiang and his musicians performing some light music.
With stage performer Mr. Gao Long Hai acting as the opening guest announcer, and regular DDA exhibition hosts Mr. Yu Huan Pei and DDA’s Rose Oliver introducing the performers and commentating on the show, it was a wonderful mix of culture, art and fun.
Thanks to all the performers and guests for their magnificent performances; to our disciples, students and friends for all their help with the preparations and organization; and to all our local and international friends for their continuing support!
It was a fantastic event, thanks to everyone for all their support and encouragement over the last 10 years, we look forward to seeing everybody at our next event and celebrating with you all again at our 20th anniversary!
