Enjoying Cultural Exchange at the British Cultural Centre (BCC)

Everyone enjoyed sharing Chinese culture with our UK guests from Coventry University at the University of Shanghai for Science & Technology (USST) and the BCC!

The group of British students and two faculty members spent almost two weeks with us at the BCC, enjoying cultural exchange activities, including Peking Opera, Chinese cuisine and dumpling making, interaction with our USST students and BCC volunteers; plus taking part in academic projects with their counterparts at USST’s Mechanical Engineering School.
The BCC were honoured that regular DDA collaborator and friend, Ms. Cao Hui and her colleague Ms. Li, (who acted as make-up artist for the event), took time out of their busy schedules to share their expertise with our British guests, and let them try out some of the singing, dancing fighting moves, make-up and costumes; it was a really fun experience for all concerned!
Rose’s Chinese students also did a great job presenting introductions to China’s cuisine, favourite landmarks, classical literature, paper-cutting and Hanfu clothing, all in English!
A great time was had by all; our guests were very enthusiastic and friendly, and willing to try everything; and at the farewell party, also introduced aspects of their own cultures, including dancing and singing, which resulted in a very warm and happy farewell!
Thanks to all who attended and our BCC volunteers for their hard work; and we look forward to Coventry University’s students’ next visit to us here in Shanghai!
