Grandmaster Wang Hao Da
Beginnings
Grandmaster Wang Hao Da, who passed away in 2002, was one of the exceptions to the usual careers of martial artists, having begun his training later in adult life, rather than as a youngster.
Having developed TB while working in a factory in his thirties, he needed to find a way to renew his health and recover from the disease.
However, despite starting relatively late, he quickly cultivated his knowledge and understanding of Taiji, working with some of the great Wu Style Taiji masters of the time, including Grandmaster Ma Yue Liang and Pei Zu Yin.
International Travels
Grandmaster Wang was invited by Rose and her late husband Rey to teach several workshops in and around the UK in 1999 and 2000, and was a wonderful teacher to work with.
Once Rose came to Shanghai in 2000, she continued studying Qigong, Taiji form and push hands principles with Grandmaster Wang on a weekly basis, gaining entrée into the Cao Yang Park scene of camaraderie and Taiji weekend training! Having hosted Grandmaster Wang at her home in the UK, she was greeted warmly by his Shanghai students and soon found longlasting friendships there that continue to this day.
Dantian Skills
A humourous and highly amiable man, Grandmaster Wang enjoyed active weekly pushing hands sessions well into his 70’s, and described push hands as a form of internal massage, crediting his students as one of the reasons for his aptitude and amazing dantian skills!
