Invitation to participate in the 110 Year Anniversary Art Exhibition Commemorating Buddhist Artwork in Shanghai October 2011

Our association?is co-organizing?an art exhibition?commemorating Buddhist artwork,?in late October 2011,?in cooperation?with organizer Ms.?Wang San Mei, a very well known and respected art promoter in Shanghai.

The other sponsors and organizers of the event are the?Shanghai Buddhist Association, the?Jade Buddha Temple?in Shanghai and the?Shanghai Yu Tian Hong Run Art Gallery.

?

The exhibition will be dedicated?jointly?to the 110 Year anniversary of famed Buddhist?Monk?Hong Yi and?be?a commemorative?exhibition in honour of the late Mr. Zhao Pu Chu,?late?President of the Shanghai Buddhist Association.

?

Following the success of?the 2010 Shanghai Expo, where international art and culture?of all kinds?was greatly enjoyed and welcomed by Chinese audiences, Ms Wang, myself?and?our?other associates would liketo open?the Shanghai art?world?to?artists from?around the?globe?and we are hoping to attract up to five international artists to?participate in this exhibition?and showcase their?artwork?to the art community here in Shanghai.

?

This would be a great?opportunity?for artists (both western and Chinese) to promote and share their work and talent with a wider audience and introduce more people to the flourishing art world, not only?here in Shanghai, but also across?China.

?

Each?of the?participating?artists?will exhibit 1-2 pieces of?their artwork, including calligraphy, water, oil paintings or other art mediums?and the theme for the exhibition is?related to Buddhism,?Buddhist imagery or other forms of religious?scenes.

?

To take part in the exhibition, we welcome artists to first submit a photograph(s) of their work to the art exhibition’s art committee for approval, plus a detailed biography of the artist,?all of?which will be included in the exhibition’s?published programme and?commemorative?book.?We will also need the base selling price of each piece.

?

In terms of?financial arrangements if any paintings are sold (if offers exceed the base selling price), then the organizing committee will pay 70% of?any?sales fees?to the artist and deduct?30% as commission, to cover the related running costs of the exhibition, which?includes?media coverage?through?television and newspapers, plus venue hire, banquets, storage and transportation?and other administration costs.

?

With regard to?shipping and transportation; for artists sending work from overseas?or other parts of China, the organizers will pay 50% of shipping/transport?costs; once the artwork arrives?in Shanghai, we will beresponsible for?its care and?transportation.

?

If artists would like to attend the exhibition in person, unfortunately we will not be able to offer financial assistance, but will help arrange reasonable accommodation in downtown Shanghai and provide?help?and advice throughout their stay. Of course,?all?artists will be our?VIP?guests at the exhibition, the?opening?ceremony and?all exhibition?banquets.

?

Ms.?Wang’s company with sponsor Mr. Lin Yu Hua, recently organized a very successful art exhibition promoting the works of renowned artist Xu Zhi Wen in Shanghai, (photo of Mr. Xu with Rose Oliver and international guests attached). Ms Wang has since held further exhibitions promoting Mr. Xu’s works in Hangzhou and Suzhou and further exhibitions are planned in Japan?this year,?as well as other provinces around China.
