DDA’s Rose Oliver and Steven Tsao visited the historic town of Jia Xing, in company with Mr. William Lo,?
a native of Shanghai and long term resident of the USA.

The trip took in the sites of the picturesque South Lake (Nan Hu) and Gardens, where we had the chance to?
alight on the famous boat where Mao Zedong and the other founding members of the Communist Party of China,?
held their first general meeting.

The boat, which is now a permanent tourist attraction on the lake, has been refurbished and renovated to
its former glory and it was great to have the chance to experience a piece of modern history.

With a VIP guided tour of the park, tea and the traditional fruit of the area in the garden’s teahouse,?
plus a meeting with Mr. Cai, a famous Taiji master in Jia Xing, we all had a wonderful time!

I can thoroughly recommend a visit to the park and gardens, especially now that the town is connected to?
Shanghai by the express overhead-railway system, allowing us to arrive in only 20 minutes!
