Chu Kot Eight Trigrams Village:

Chu Kot Eight Trigrams Village, which was related to the legendary figure “Chu-Ko Liang” of the Three Kingdoms, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists with its unique cultural and historical background.
The village lays within the border of Lan Xi City, Zhe Jiang Province, 17.5km east from downtown, with the State Highway to the east, the provincial highway towards Long You and Qu Zhou to the north. The entire village centres around the Bang Pool at its core, with eight lanes radiating outwards, forming the trigrams.
What is really a mystery is that eight hills embrace the whole village, forming the natural trigrams looking like the Taiji Yin Yang symbol. There are 200 well-preserved ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, plus beautiful scenery, as well as row upon row of ancient building complexes and commercial centers, circling the pool, greeting the eyes with a unique view.
The village was built in the late Yuan Dynasty by Chu-Ko Da Shi, 27th generation descendant of Chu-Ko Liang. Although it has a history of over 600 years it is very well preserved, being a legendary place for modern people to visit. The village has a population of 4000 sons of Chu-Ko Liang, so it’s the biggest residential place for descendants of Chu-Ko Liang.
The entire village structure was designed by the famous Jiu Gong Ba Gua, featuring architecture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and is exemplified by its style of “blue bricks, gray tiles, horse-head walls, strong house beams, solid columns and shy boudoirs”.
In the second half of the Ming Dynasty, the whole village was formed and its heritage with featured architecture, ancient sculptures and gorgeous scenery, such as a clear pool, luxuriant bamboo and an old business center, still delight and enchant the visitor today.
In 1996 Chu Kot Eight Trigrams Village was listed as a key cultural heritage site in China by the State Council.

Introduction to our Taiji teacher:

Master Wang has always loved sports and trained in Chinese wrestling and boxing in his youth. However, it was in 1993 that Master Wang begun his Taiji training after an industrial accident, suffering two serious breaks to both ankles, which rendered him confined to bed for over a year, with the prognosis of being unable to walk in the future.
Nevertheless, about a year later Wang persisted in his desire to walk hobbling with a stick to breathe the fresh air in a nearby park, which changed his destiny. There he met 70-year-old Taiji master Wang Hao Da, a Wu Style Taiji master.
In order to restore his health and attain a better quality of life, he began to study with the master, beginning with Qi Gong and some basic skills, gradually moving onto to study Taiji. After a period of learning, he was able to walk again; following which he began his further study of Tui Shou or Pushing Hands.
Over the years, he has also studied Chen Style Taiji and Yang Style Taiji from Master Tao Cheng Xiang.
Master Wang began to study Yang Style Taiji with Master Dong Bin in 2003 after Master Wang Hao Da’s death in 2002.
Master Wang is a very patient teacher and willing to impart all his skills to his students. He has rich experience in teaching both Chinese and western students, holding a regular Taiji class every Friday evening in Jing An District. (Please see www.doubledragonalliance.com for details).
Classes with Master Wang are always fun and he’s always a great favourite at Double Dragon Alliance’s annual martial arts camp in Shanghai.
Taiji, a way to lift your mind, heighten your awareness, cultivate your health and light your way!
