Fern’s Experience
Yesterday, I attended and helped at a function about Peking Opera for a group of student-teachers from the UK, held by Double Dragon Alliance. The hostess, Rose Oliver from DDA made a great contribution to the success of this function.
I was assigned as the Chief Photographer that night. I was thrilled when I knew what my job would be, because I knew it was gonna be an awesome function & being the photographer is a totally exciting and challenging thing to do. Just as I thought, the whole process was amazing. It was a kind of interactive function, so that everybody enjoyed their “hour of fame” in high spirits. Although there are huge cultural gaps between eastern & western culture, the guests from afar began to feel the quintessence of our deep and mysterious Chinese culture. (Or should I add, me too?)
Thanks to DDA, I learned a great deal about traditional Chinese culture and my unique experience made me become interested in Peking Opera & photography itself. Capturing the big smiles on people’s faces is one of THE happiest things in the world. Just like somebody has said, “Our life is not measured by the numbers of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away”.
