to celebrate the 63rd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The Shanghai Mayor, Mr. Han Zheng initiated the proceedings with a welcoming
speech for the mixed Chinese and international guests, including many dignitaries and luminaries
from the Chinese and expat communities.

The celebration was held at the new China Art Museum in Shanghai, 161 Shang Nan Road,
inside the 2010 Shanghai Expo’s China Pavilion.?

The magnificent structure now houses both national and international art treasures,
exhibiting some of the finest paintings, sculptures, calligraphy and murals from some of
the best artists from around the world.

Featuring exhibits on loan from some of the foremost collections, including 2500 year-old
figures and carvings on loan from the British Museum, and many beautiful scrolls by ancient
Chinese calligraphers and painters, the exhibition was a wonderful end to the fantastic event.

?Rose who was honoured to be the official representative of her school Shanghai University,
where she has worked for the last 12 years, thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful evening,
with its delicious, sumptuous buffet and the chance to catch up with so many old friends
from the Shanghai community.
