DDA recently organized a talk on the hidden meaning behind Chinese names, with guest?speaker Professor Luo Jian Ping,
who explained the ways in which names are traditionally?given to children to help boost,?replenish or counteract positive
and negative influences,?and help balance a child’s “Eight Pillars” Birth Chart (Bazi), which ultimately affects a?person’s life,
health, relationships and fortune.

Professor Luo Jian Ping is a lecturer at Jiao Tong, Fudan and Hua Dong Science &
Technology Universities, and has been researching Chinese culture, including Feng Shui,
Bazi Birth Charting, Daoism and the origins of Chinese characters for many years and is the
author of several books on the subject.

As ever when Professor Luo gives a lecture, guests had an abundance of in-depth questions
about their own names and the reasons for many experiences and “happenings” in their lives
and how possibly to counteract some negative energies existing in the present time.

Many female members of the audience also had queries relating to potentially suitable or
auspicious names for children in the future.

Victor Garza, who last week gave a talk for DDA on practical Feng Shui principles also attended
Professor Luo’s talk and had his own questions related to Bazi principles and the different styles
of reading the birth charts in different Asian countries.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable and fascinating evening.
