April 18th’s destination was the SAS (Shanghai American School).? The activity was aimed at a reading communication for Shanghai University and the SAS.
The SAS has a long history of establishing its education since the 1910s. The school’s image outside the bus window was a little bit like Chinese style, it differs from our college’s modern building. The school buildings with grey eaves smack of antiquity, which impressed me a lot.
When we stepped into the campus, the guardian waved to us smiling. The receptionist is a handsome cool man, Mr B. He is the SAS’s computer teacher. Learning in such a friendly environment, the SAS students must enjoy that. Through the library which holds the largest collection of original English books in Shanghai, plus I met Abraham Lincoln (Paper sculpture) and he smiled at me!
After a short talk about the book “HOLES”, we learnt to log into the librarything.com with the help of the SAS students, which lay open to us a broad place to exchange ideas on reading.
The short relaxed visit quickly came to an end. From our perspective, we are learning how to talk with younger readers besides reading itself. And I think that when you are in college to have a face-to-face communication to know about others’ ideas may be one of the most important chances.
