?? Last Sunday (18th April), we about 10 students from Shanghai University went to SAS to have the first meeting with each other.
?? It was really a great trip for me.
We arrived at SAS at about 4:30pm and the students there were already waiting for us in their library. They all came from different parts of the world such as America, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and so on.? My classmate told me it looked like a United Nation’s meeting when we sat together, well it really did!
Next, I want to mention the most exciting part of my trip—the discussing time. We are divided into several groups, mostly two SAS students and two SU students. After that, we were permitted free group discussion in their library.
The library is another fascinating part of my trip I want to share with you. Tom, a teacher from SAS, told us the library has the most English books in Shanghai. In fact, it doesn’t look that big but it is really comfortable when you stay there. The bookshelves are not tall and all of them are made of wood. And the posts on the wall really left a deep impression on me. They are all about the latest movies or new books, which build a very relaxing environment for the readers. But what attracted me most was their “sofa area”(I make the name by myself), that’s a round area with several one-person sofas in it, and the area is on one side of the library. It seemed that students from SAS also liked this area most because they all rushed to that place the moment we were dismissed.
I was in a group including one mixed race girl and one girl from Taiwan. Actually they didn’t talk to me a lot at first, maybe because we were just not familiar with each other and they were a little shy to talk to strangers. We just read the book in turn and discussed the context of what we’d read. After two chapters, we decided to have a rest and I wanted to break the “freezing environment” among us, so I asked them some questions about their daily life and also gave some introduction about myself. They were apparently becoming relaxed through the talk and I found they were really active and easygoing.
Wonderful time always flows like water, we left SAS at about 6:00p.m. I really like this kind of activity because you can learn things through it without any stress. Meanwhile, we can also know a lot of friends.
At last, let me show my sincere appreciation to my teacher Rose for giving us such a good opportunity.
