DDA’s Rose Oliver was invited to attend a martial arts demonstration and workshop at Cui Hu Private Spa near Xin Tian Di on Shun Chang Road for a party of University students from the USA, on a 6 week tour here in Shanghai.
??
The mixture of freshman, sophomores, junior and senior year students, all came from the Le High University, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The exchange programme was organized by the Fesco Learning Centre in Shanghai.
Fesco’s learning itinerary in cooperation with the US University, arranged for the students to have two weeks of Mandarin lessons, followed by 4 weeks of internship work with a variety of Shanghai businesses, to allow the students to become immersed in Chinese culture, society and the working environment.
??
The students were also exposed to various aspects of Chinese culture, with workshops in martial arts, Chinese painting, Calligraphy among others.
I spoke to several of the students, including Elana, Carly and Ali, all of whom said they were really enjoying a great time here in Shanghai and felt that the programme was helping them get a real view of life in China.
??
Today’s workshop featured demonstrations and instruction in Taiji by Mr Zou Guo Liang, Shaolin by Master Ding Yu Chun and Taiji Chin Na applications by Master Shen and his students.
??
The group of around 100 students had a great time and a really fun introduction into Chinese martial arts.
