Students comments about Double Dragon Alliance’s Tuina & TCM course

DDA member Carly Kite recently completed the first level of the TCM & Tuina internship programme sponsored by DDA in partnership with the Conjoint Health Advisory Centre.

Carly spent 3 weeks working alongside Dr Li Yong and the other doctors in the clinic, learning preliminary Tuina massage techniques, primarily for preserving and maintaining overall good health, tonifying the body and detoxifying the meridian channels.
She is now beginning the second level of the programme, which will include review and perfection of the techniques learned in level one, plus massage techniques and manipulation of acupressure points to relieve or aid particular health problems and conditions. The second level will also cover some basic acupuncture and cupping techniques.
An experienced interpreter accompanied Carly daily to help translate and facilitate the learning process.
Carly thoroughly enjoyed the first level of training and hopes to finish all three levels of the programme by mid April. The Tuina techniques learned will then be an excellent compliment to her own reflexology training, thus providing a wider spectrum of treatments available to her own clients.

If you would like further details of our TCM and Tuina internship programme or would like to book an appointment for reflexology treatment with Carly, please contact Rose Oliver for details.

?Tuina Internship Programme 2009

I have recently completed the first level of Tuina training at Dr Li’s clinic here in Shanghai. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and working along side all the doctors in the clinic. They were all great teachers, happy and eager to help in any way they could. At first it was really hard work and I could feel every muscle in my body after a hard day of massage, however at every stage of learning a new technique, the doctors would massage me so I could feel the correct feelings. This was fabulous as my aches and pains would soon disappear and my energy re stored.

Rose’s students were fantastic translators and willing to help in every way. I have even learnt some more Chinese along the way.

I found it fascinating to learn about Traditional Chinese Medicine and how the meridians in the body work and what they do. There is so much to learn and discover about this wonderful therapy that I am now looking forward to starting level two and three. I am then hoping to continue working as a professional Tuina therapist here in Shanghai before taking it home with me to the UK. I am already qualified as a Reflexology therapist and feel they both work very well together.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Doctors at the clinic and to Rose for introducing me to the course.
