DDA recently cooperated with East China Normal University’s “Global Education Centre Student Exchange Programme”), organizing a Taiji lecture for the visiting students from the State University of New York.
The under-graduate and graduate students, who come from a variety of campuses belonging to the State University of New York, were here in Shanghai as part of a three-week student-exchange training programme at ECNU, studying Chinese language and taking part in a variety of cultural experiences.

Later in the year, students from ECNU will travel to New York for their part of the exchange programme, experiencing American life and culture.
DDA were invited to provide a lecture on Taiji as part of the cultural programme, aiming to help give the students some background on Chinese martial arts and their philosophy and deepen their knowledge of Chinese culture.

Master Wang Ming Bo and Rose Oliver delivered an introduction to Taiji’s philosophy, as well as showing the mixed group of male and female students some locking techniques and other applications, plus demonstrating Chen Style, Yang Style and Wu Style Taiji.
Some of the students already practiced Karate and other forms of martial arts and found the concepts of Yin and Yang and energy work fascinating, as well as providing helpful insights into their own arts.
The interactive workshop was great fun and much enjoyed by the very friendly and enthusiastic group.
