World Heritage Art
All of us at DDA are excited to hear that Taiji Quan has received recognition from UNESCO and been designated a ‘World Heritage Art’!

Hope everyone enjoyed World Taiji (Tai Chi) Day, when Taiji practitioners around the world gathered together to play Taiji, Qigong, push hands and generally celebrate all things Yin-Yang! This year, due to Covid-19, celebrations and gatherings were typically smaller and low-key. Rose celebrated with a couple of Taiji Zoom classes, and for all our DDA family in Shanghai, every day is Taiji Day, so there was lots of practice going on there!

DDA disciple and Magic Tortoise Taiji School senior student Gabrael StClair is teaching our DDA tendon stretching and joint opening exercises, and Taiji form, check out their friendly group in Durham!

Thanks to everyone who recently attended our small group zoom sessions on 7th Dec and our first for 2021 on 11th January!
The smaller sessions were fairly informal, with each student preparing a minute of movements from either section 1 or section 2 of DDA’s Master Dong Bin Yang Style Taiji form for corrections, or from their own form from other disciplines like staff and Chen Style.

The BCC (part of the Int’l Culture Park at the University of Shanghai for Science & Technology, where Rose is Director) continued in-person talks and lectures in December, and finished out the year’s programmes with a lecture and conversational events on using one’s initiative, and English storytelling.

Master Wang Ming Bo recently lectured for the ‘Shanghai Yi Jing Culture Rostrum’ on Taiji, health and wellness principles in alignment with Yijing philosophy!

This Ox Year party was a little different than previous years because of Covid, with the party being a Zoom Festival, but as usual was another marvelous event full of camaraderie and fun!

Traditional Culture
DDA inducted two new Taiji disciples on 12th January 2020, including one of our long-term international students, Gabe StClair and Chen Jin Yuan, another long term martial arts practitioner.
